About Caney Mountain Horse Camp
Caney Mountain Horse Camp is located north of Big Flat
Arkansas. The location of the camp is surrounded by national
forest and wilderness areas. The Combined Lower Buffalo and
Leatherwoods Wilderness Areas comprise one of the largest wilderness
areas in the central United States. Here you can ride and experience the
majestic beauty of the Ozark's. The trails ride along free running
rivers, bluffs and forest. The trails range from relaxed riding along
forest roads to challenging trails for you and your horse.
Our campground offers primitive campsites (no
hook-ups) and access to our solar Powered, heated bath house. Our quiet
central location in the middle of the wilderness area precludes
electrical service or treated water. However; there is plenty of water
for your horses and solitude for you. Campers are welcome to run
their own generators for electricity at their camp sites.
Caney Mountain Horse Camp is accessed by forest
service maintained gravel roads that can accommodate large horse
trailers. The campground has plenty of room to maneuver trailers. Horse
pens are set up at each campsite. The campground has a gas grill,
charcoal grill, and smoker available for campers to use.
